COACH BRIEF — MONDAY
CYCLE 2 · WEEK 4
SUPERB STRENGTH — SQUAT CLEAN COMPLEX
COACH FOCUS
The priority is movement quality and consistency, not chasing a max load.
Athletes should build weight gradually across the 5 sets.
Make sure the bar stays close throughout the clean sequence.
Strong, controlled positions from the floor → low hang → hang → high hang.
Every rep should look technically solid before adding weight.
WATCH FOR
Bar drifting away from the body.
Early arm pull.
Losing the front rack position.
Rushing between reps in the complex.
Weight becoming too heavy and compromising technique.
KEY MESSAGE
Build the weight, but never sacrifice the quality of the complex.
SUPERB INTENSITY — CLEAN ENGINE
COACH FOCUS
Athletes have 90 seconds of work followed by 90 seconds of rest.
The goal is to complete the thrusters and wall balls efficiently, then use the remaining time to accumulate bike calories.
The biggest mistake is going too hard in the first rounds.
Encourage athletes to find a sustainable pace they can repeat for all 6 rounds.
WATCH FOR
Thrusters becoming slow or broken too early.
Wall balls creating unnecessary fatigue.
Athletes sprinting the bike in the first rounds.
Long transitions between movements.
Large drop-off in calories from round to round.
KEY MESSAGE
Stay consistent. The goal is six strong rounds, not one great round.
COACH CUE
“Move efficiently, transition quickly, and save enough to keep your bike calories consistent all the way to the end.”
