COACH BRIEF — TUESDAY
CYCLE 2 · WEEK 4
SUPERB STRENGTH — HANDSTAND PUSH-UPS
COACH FOCUS
Today is about gymnastics strength and body control.
Athletes should choose a variation that allows all 6 reps to be completed with good quality.
Keep the body tight and maintain a strong overhead position.
Encourage athletes to stay consistent rather than pushing to failure.
WATCH FOR
Losing the hollow position.
Elbows flaring excessively.
Poor head position.
Kipping or using momentum when the chosen variation is strict.
Athletes going too heavy/advanced and failing early.
KEY MESSAGE
Quality reps first — choose the variation that allows you to stay consistent for all 5 sets.
SUPERB INTENSITY — MARY
COACH FOCUS
This is a 20-minute gymnastics conditioning workout.
Athletes should establish a sustainable pace from the beginning.
HSPU and Pull-Ups should be performed in manageable sets.
Pistols should stay controlled and consistent.
The goal is to keep moving throughout the full 20 minutes.
WATCH FOR
Athletes going to failure on the first few rounds.
HSPU sets becoming unnecessarily large.
Losing control on Pistols.
Pull-Ups breaking down due to grip fatigue.
Excessive rest between movements.
KEY MESSAGE
Start controlled, stay moving and save your best work for the second half.
COACH CUE
“Break before you need to. Keep the transitions short and aim for the same quality of movement from round one to round twenty.”
